Comin Asia Successfully Completed KULARA 2 Solar Energy Project

Comin Asia proudly completed the Kulara 2 solar energy project, located in the Preah Vihear province of Cambodia. Kulara 2 is the second water facility of Kulara Water, the leading producer of pure natural mineral water from Eau Kulen. This groundbreaking project, initiated by TotalEnergies Renewables Cambodia, represents the first-ever implementation of a hybrid solar power system for a natural mineral water producer in the country.

Comin Asia, serving as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor of this project, has successfully executed, and incorporating an 800KWp capacity Solar PV system and a 1.34MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). Key features of the customized solutions provided by Comin Asia include:

Photovoltaic (PV) Panels: These panels efficiently convert sunlight into clean electricity, forming as the primary energy source for the facility.

Battery Energy Storage System (BESS): The BESS stores excess solar energy, ensuring its utilization during periods of low solar generation or peak demand.

Genset Integration: To enhance backup power and system stability, Comin integrated a genset into the hybrid system.

Energy Management System (EMS): This intelligent system seamlessly controls and optimizes the overall performance of the hybrid power plant, ensuring efficient energy utilization.

The implementation of solar panels in this project brings about significant positive impacts on the environment:

  1. Reduced Carbon Footprint: By leveraging solar energy, Kulara 2 significantly diminishes reliance on fossil fuels, thereby minimizing greenhouse gas emissions and contributing to a cleaner environment for Cambodia.

Comin Asia takes pride in its role in supporting TotalEnergies Renewables on this project. After six months of dedicated efforts, the project was successfully completed in July 2023.
